Overview
The early years are the foundation of a child’s growth and learning. At Dar-ul-Madinah, we combine Montessori principles with Islamic values to create a nurturing environment where children explore, discover, and develop with confidence.
Our classrooms are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and independence. Teachers act as guides and facilitators, ensuring every child learns at their own pace while feeling supported and valued.
Qualified and well-trained teachers lead each class, supported by a dedicated co-teacher. Together, they focus on the holistic development of every child—nurturing physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills while laying a strong value-based foundation for life.
Holistic Development through the ECCE-SNC Curriculum
At Dar-ul-Madinah, our Pre-Primary curriculum is built upon the ECCE-SNC framework, which focuses on seven key learning areas essential for a child’s development. Each area is designed with specific competencies and learning goals to ensure a comprehensive and balanced approach to early education. Through these areas, we aim to nurture a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and creative growth while fostering Islamic values.
Key Learning Areas:
1. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
This area focuses on building a child’s sense of self, their social interactions, and emotional well-being.
Competences include learning to manage emotions, develop relationships with peers and adults, and build resilience and confidence in social settings.
2. Language and Literacy
Our language program nurtures communication skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Competences include the development of vocabulary, phonemic awareness, storytelling, and early literacy skills, all of which form the foundation for effective communication.
3. Basic Mathematical Concepts
Children are introduced to foundational mathematical concepts such as numbers, shapes, patterns, and measurement. Competences focus on developing number recognition, basic problem-solving, and the ability to understand and use mathematical language in real-world contexts.
4. The World Around Us
In this area, children explore their environment and develop an understanding of the world around them. Competences include recognizing different environments (natural and man-made), understanding basic concepts of time and space, and gaining awareness of their cultural and social surroundings.
5. Physical Development
Physical development is promoted through activities that enhance both fine and gross motor skills. Competences include developing hand-eye coordination, balance, physical strength, and overall body awareness. Physical activities are also integrated with play to foster healthy habits.
6. Health, Hygiene, and Safety
This area ensures that children understand the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene, and practicing safety. Competences include learning about personal hygiene, making healthy food choices, and understanding basic safety rules both at school and at home.
7. Creative Arts
Creativity is encouraged through a wide range of activities, including art, drama, role play and imaginative play. Competences include expressing oneself through different art forms, experimenting with materials, and using imagination to explore new ideas and concepts.

One of the core strengths of our Pre-Primary curriculum is the Oracy Program, which focuses on developing students’ spoken language skills, confidence, and expression.
The Oracy Program is designed with age-appropriate themes and activities that encourage children to listen attentively, articulate clearly, and share ideas with confidence. Through engaging conversations, storytelling, role-plays, and interactive group discussions, students learn how to express their thoughts effectively while
respecting the opinions of others.

At Dar-ul-Madinah, Art and Craft activities are an integral part of our Pre-Primary program, designed to spark imagination and creativity in young learners. Through hands-on experiences with colors, shapes, and textures, children not only explore their artistic abilities but also develop fine motor skills, concentration, and self-
expression.

Our Art & Craft Curriculum
Painting & Printing Techniques – Blot painting, blow painting, sponge painting, splatter/spray painting, thread painting, leaf printing, hand and finger art, and magic painting with wax.
Creative Materials & Textures – Eggshell painting, paper collage, colour mixing and marbling, play dough modeling, and rubbing art.
These activities encourage children to think imaginatively, strengthen their motor skills, and create with confidence. They also support early learning concepts such as colours, shapes, and patterns while making the classroom environment lively and engaging.
Beyond creativity, Art and Craft helps build patience, problem-solving skills, and teamwork as children share materials, exchange ideas, and take pride in their creations. The joy of making something with their own hands boosts confidence and nurtures a love for learning.
